Pauline Martin, FNP-BC

Many years ago, Pauline realized that the focus of medicine is often on the treatment of symptoms rather than going to the root of the problem or preventing it altogether if possible. She believes that it is important to approach health from a more holistic view; mind, body, and spirit, and integrating conventional and complimentary medicine in order to maximize health. It is also extremely important that each person be an active participant in his or her treatment plan.

Pauline Martin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in German and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. She worked as a nurse in Labor and Delivery and then went on to expand her knowledge and training by completing her Family Nurse Practitioner certification at Georgia Southern College in 1986.

She has worked in a variety of settings taking care of patients of all age groups. Pauline also spent over four years working for the Department of State in Chad, Africa and Mexico City where her patients along with Embassy and related personnel, included Peace Corps Volunteers whom she had to visit out in the bush. This was an excellent exposure to tropical and parasitic illnesses as well as honing her diagnostic skills since often there were limited resources to assist her. She went on to work in the recompression chamber for diving injuries in Cozumel, Mexico before coming back to Austin and practicing in the community here since 1994. She continues to keep current by attending conferences and serving as a preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students.

Pauline is experienced in the diagnosis and management of thyroid, hormones, chronic fatigue, allergies, diabetes, elevated cholesterol, autoimmune diseases and gut issues. She also enjoys working with overall health, anti-aging, and disease prevention. She loves working with women prior to conception and during and after pregnancy. Pauline also is very experienced and delights in working with all ages of children from birth on.

Pauline enjoys running, horseback riding, scuba diving, and traveling in her spare time. She speaks excellent Spanish and rusty French and German.

Debbi Winder, PA

Early on in her career, Debbi felt conventional medicine was somewhat fragmented and “missing something”. She felt it was important to look for the cause of a problem rather than increasing the snowball effect using pharmaceuticals. She believes many things affect a person’s health and it is important to address the whole person and underlying causes. Optimum health requires the integration of all systems.

Physician Assistant, Debbi Winder received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology/pre-med at The University of Texas at Austin. She completed her medical training and Physician Assistant certification at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1985. She went on to complete her Naturopathic Endocrinology certification through the American Naturopathic Medical Certification and Accreditaion Board.

Debbi’s broad professional background includes women and children’s health, internal medicine, emergency medicine, clinical medical research, and public healthcare. She has been a clinical preceptor for physician assistant, nurse practitioner medical students and medical residents through the years.

Her experience in non-profit public healthcare has provided Debbi with strong diagnostic skills. This population taught her to really listen to the patient and do a careful exam, because these people did not have the resources for lab work and expensive tests. It taught her to more carefully evaluate the patient with a more comprehensive approach.

After working many years in conventional medical settings, Debbi began further training in complementary/functional medicine and has been providing integrative health care to patients since 2002. She continues to integrate conventional and complementary approaches when evaluating and treating patients.

Debbi is well versed in many modalities to include bio-identical hormone therapy, neurotransmitter balancing, thyroid issues, adrenal issues, detoxification, chelation, oxidative therapies and nutritional IV therapies.

Debbi enjoys running, NIA dance, Pilates, hiking, yoga, gardening & traveling in her spare time.
